The Vivo X80 Pro is a global smartphone with advanced features and a large fingerprint scanner.

Vivo has created a name for itself by producing smartphones with outstanding photography capabilities, attractive aesthetics, and responsive software. Vivo has returned with its latest flagship model, the Vivo X80 Pro.

The fingerprint scanner on the Vivo X80 Pro is the most interesting feature.

In-display fingerprint scanners are loved by some and despised by others. Sensors located on the side or back, or even Apple's Face ID biometric security technology, are commonly preferred. The new Vivo X80 Pro, on the other hand, could be the gadget that permanently alters in-display scanner technology, thanks to major hardware and software upgrades.

The changes are immediately evident. Normally, users must press and lift their fingers numerous times to register a fingerprint, but the Vivo X80 Pro only takes one tap for each finger. You won't have to worry as much about hitting the correct location on the display once you've registered. Vivo's new '3D Ultrasound Large Fingerprint Sensor' has a substantially wider surface area, allowing you more unlocking freedom.

If that wasn't enough, a further layer of security is provided. If you're afraid that one fingerprint won't be enough to safeguard the phone or an app, the Vivo X80 Pro lets you require two scans at the same time.

You also won't have to worry about getting your phone (or yourself) wet. Also when wet, the better and fresh fingerprint scanner, powered by Qualcomm's '3D Sonic Max' technology, works.

Vivo’s new flagship is packed with the latest technology

Of course, the Vivo X80 Pro is more than just a snazzy fingerprint scanner. This has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, low bezels, and curved edges on both sides. In addition, there is a small punch-hole above.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 CPU, Qualcomm's latest and greatest (until the Gen1+ arrives on Friday, at least), is housed within Vivo's latest flagship, along with 12GB of RAM and a staggering 256GB of internal storage.

A 4,7000mAh battery and Android 12 out of the box ensure you won't have any battery depletion troubles. Vivo is also including support for rapid wired charging at 80W and wireless charging at 50W. It also promises three years of Android OS security patches and updates.

A ZEISS-branded camera experience is included too

Vivo is becoming recognised for its outstanding camera experiences, as highlighted in the opening paragraph, and the Vivo X80 Pro appears ready to maintain that reputation owing to several ZEISS-branded sensors.

A 32-megapixel selfie camera, a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x zoom and gimbal stabilisation, and an 8-megapixel 5x periscope zoom option are all incorporated in one smartphone.

A huge camera bump holds some camera branding and an LED flash, as well as the adaptable rear arrangement. It's all underpinned by the Vivo V1 Plus, a new bespoke image signal processor that promises to boost image processing times and features like cinematic video bokeh mode.

Vivo X80 Pro release date, price, and availability

Vivo has yet to confirm an exact release date for the X80 Pro, though its global launch is set to kick off in India in the coming weeks. A European launch is likely to follow shortly after. In terms of pricing, the Vivo X80 Pro retails at ₹79,999 in India. That’s the equivalent to a little over $1,000 and just under €1,000 without considering local tax differences, so the final retail prices in other regions will vary.
